I just changed my password but cannot log in to Google Chrome.
If you've recently changed your password, you may not be able to log in to Chrome. This is a known issue with the latest version of Chrome. Google has provided a temporary workaround for this (Google is working on a permanent fix that should be included in an upcoming version of Chrome).
For the workaround procedure, just perform the following steps:
Notes:
- You will only need to perform this once, unless you change your password again while the issue is still active.
- You may want to try logging in again before you perform the workaround to make sure you didn't enter your password incorrectly.
Step 1. Copy and paste the following URL into a Google browser window:
https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?continue=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fintl%2Fen-US%2Fchrome%2Fblank.html%3Fsource%3D3%26auto_close%3D1&service=chromiumsync&sarp=1&elo=1
Step 2. Press Enter.
Step 3. Enter your Georgetown email address and NetID password, and then click Sign in.
Step 4. In the message that appears, click either Link data or Create new profile.
(The Link data option simply links your data---current browser bookmarks, browser history, any saved passwords, and other settings---to your new Chrome login. The Create a new profile option creates a new profile from the same data.)
If you're still unable to sign in to Chrome, perform the following:
- Select and copy the above URL to the clipboard.
- Click the Chrome Settings (gear-shaped) button, and then select Sign in to Chrome from the drop-down list.
- Paste the URL you copied in Step 1 into the address bar of your Chrome browser window, and then press Enter.
- Log in to Chrome by entering your email address and NetID password, and then clicking Sign in.
Apple iCloud Keychain Issues after NetID password change and Apple Update
Recent Apple updates prompt users to re-enter key chain passwords. (Keychain remembers things, so that you don't have to. It autofills your information—like your Safari usernames and passwords, credit cards, Wi-Fi passwords, and social log-ins—on any device that you approve. You can also find your saved passwords with iCloud Keychain.)
Keychain items could be used for SaxaNet Access, Chrome Browser single sign on, and many other services. Click here for information on how to update your Keychain passwords.
